Mentor, Ohio - Process Technology is a well established company that for over 20 years has manufactured electric immersion heaters, in-line heaters, water level controls, heat exchangers and temperature controls for a variety of industrial processes such as pickling and plating. Several years ago the company realized that fish farmers and hatcheries had need of a similar suite of products, and so set about re-designing units to fit the specific requirements of the aquaculture industry.

Process Technology had sold their standard electric heaters and controls to the aquaculture industry for 15 years, but as of a year ago a specific line has been redesigned to more closely reflect the fish farming applications. Typically these units (1 -36 kW) are fixed in place and hard-wired, but there are occasions when flexibility and portability are advantageous. Hence, the latest development in this line of products is the new EasyPlug(TM) model, which comprises a heater with a separate control unit. These can simply be plugged into any ground-fault protected, 30 amp circuit. This portability and flexibility allows heating units to be deployed around the facility, safely, on an as-required basis. Units range from 1000 to 3500 watts and are available in either stainless steel or titanium housings for fresh or salt water applications. The thermostat has a digital temperature read-out and can be controlled to ± 1°F. The scale is available in either Fahrenheit or Celsius, but the sensitivity in each case is about the same. The heaters have thermal overload protection built in for additional safety. Units are fully grounded and meet UL and CSA as well as CE (European) safety standards.
