Wet Process Heating and Cooling Equipment

Safety First!

Did you know that most catastrophic equipment failures occur at night, over the weekend or during holiday shutdowns when processes are left on and unattended? Simple procedures to verify that equipment is positively shut off and cannot be inadvertently turned back on can reduce the risk of many of these problems. Listed below are a few procedures which should be considered for any shutdown period:

1) All electrically powered equipment should be both shut off at the device and locked out/tagged out at the specific electrical disconnect in service.

2) Mechanical valves should be closed to prevent chemical leaks or flooding.

3) Be sure that any equipment maintenance or cleaning operations that occur during shutdowns do not engage any process equipment.

Prior to reapplying power when ready to resume operations, adequate fluid levels must be verified and associated equipment inspected for positioning.

Following these simple procedures can help reduce the risk of equipment failures and ensure your facility is safely ready for production when needed. Thank you for considering these safety tips.
